17/08/02 - Last Rights win Leopold Battle of the Bands!
Today the boys won Leopold Battle of the Bands Senior Section for the second year in a row and the Overall Section for the first time. The boys pick up a free days recording at Studio 52, Melbourne. 

16/07/02 - Last Rights new CD!
Over nine days, starting from the 7th of August, a six-track EP was successfully recorded at Back Beach Studios in Rye. The CD was engineered and co-produced by Theron Renison and will be released to co-inside with the end of the school year. More details to follows soon.

20/05/02 - Vote for Last Rights on K-ROCK!
Thanks to all the great people who voted for the acoustic version of Reason on K-Rock, which is currently being played on the dirty thirty. Keep the votes coming!

15/05/02 - Last Rights on K-ROCK!
The guys will be on K-Rock tommorow night, Thurdsday, at 7:30 p.m. The word on the street is that they will be playing a special acoustic version of their newest song, Reason. It looks like they will also be having an interview with the DJ Chris Miller so keep your ears posted.

12/05/02 - Last Rights win best song!
On an amazing night at Rockfest Battle of the Bands 2002, the Arena, the boys won best song for Reason, which was played for the first time. The boys also came runner-up for best band. This means you will being hearing LR on K-Rock's Dirty Thirty program in the coming future. Will keep you posted! Special congratulations to best band, Krysys and all the bands for a top night of local talent. Big thanks go to all the organisers, especially Peter Cannon, for all their hard work.

02/05/2002- Last Rights want to see you at the Arena!
As you know Last Rights will be contesting in the Rockfest 2002 Battle of the Bands - to find Geelong's best contemporary rock school band, at the Arena. We want to see you and all your friends come out and support the local music scene. So if you haven't got your $10 tickets yet, you can see your school office, contact us, or purchase them on the night. See you there!

12/04/2002- Last Rights New CD!
Last Rights will be recording a professional six track EP over the winter holidays at Back Beach Recording Studios in Rye. The recording will take place over a week and will be mastered and duplicated following the recording. Most track details of the recording will be kept confidential till it's release in late November/early December, which will co-inside with a New Website and Merchandise arrangement.

Last Rights will also be recording for the Music From the Garage compilation CD in the coming weeks. M.F.T.G is a recording opportunity for local youth bands and will probably feature 2 Last Rights songs. We'll keep you posted!

24/02/2002- Last Rights take out 3rd prize!
Last Rights picked up 3rd prize in the Bank of Melbourne Alfresco Battle of the Bands today! Last Rights congratulate the winners, Clone 8 and second place, Kyasmo, and all the bands for what was a extremely high standard competition. Special thanks to the organisers, especially Joe Sierra, the MC and band organiser.

25/12/2001- Merry Christmas
Last Rights would like to wish all the punters out there a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Last Rights have taken a few weeks off gigging for the festive season, but will be back playing in a few weeks.

6/12/2001- Forte Mag
If you got the current issue of Forte magazine, you will notice a quarter of a page ad for Last Rights gigs!  Also we have had our first entries to the Tablature page.

27/11/2001- QMF goes off!
If you missed the Queenscliff Music Festival, you missed one of the best music festivals of all time. As well as our boys playing, the festival included many great acts such as Billy Thorpe, BOMBA, Jimi Hocking Band, David Helfgott and many, many more.   

8/11/2001- Last Rights at QMF!
Last Rights want to see you at the Music Festival of the Year, Queenscliff Music Festival. With over 180 acts on nine stage, including our very own boys, this years fest is looking to be the best ever. With Australian Rock Legend, Billy Thorpe, The Church, Ross Wilson, Phil Manning, David "Hands" Helfgott, Richard Clapton, Archie Roach, Spectrum, The Waifs, Things of Stone and Wood, just to name a few, you'd be crazy not to get your hands on a ticket. Rhys' other band, Internal Offsett, will also be playing in the Battle of the Bands on Friday night.  Youth tickets are only $30, yes $30, for the weekend, and adults $99 for the weekend. Tickets will most likely sell out, so act quick. See you at QMF!!!!!!

9/11/2001- Last Rights wins!
After Impressionable Minds (Battlestar Acoustica) going to #1 in the Mp3.com.au Acoustic charts and Open hitting #1 in the Heavy Rock charts, the mp3's have been taken off-line for a few days due to Mp3.com.au streaming technical difficulties. They will be back on line as soon as possible.

4/11/2001- Last Rights wins!
On Saturday, Last Rights played in the St. Mary's Fete Battle of the Bands with Random I Am, Internal Offsett, On Parole & Lazy Boyz and yet again came through with first prize. Second place went to Rhys's side band Internal Offsett and third prize was awarded to On Parole. That's 3 wins out of 4 Battle of the Bands for the boys!

1/11/2001- Last Rights on Mp3.com.au.
Last Rights have debuted on the Mp3.com.au Heavy Rock artists charts at #2, the Rock artists charts at #10 & the Pop/Rock charts at #38! The two downloadable songs in the music section also rocketed. Open is #4 on the Heavy Rock charts, #14 on the Rock charts & #33 on the Pop/Rock charts. Impressionable Minds (Battlestar Acoustica) is #18 on the Acoustic charts. 17/10/2001- Last Rights updates.
Download Last Rights MP3's now, in the music section. A new background has been added to every page and two more pages of photos . Some song guides are up, more coming soon.

music page, downloadable, in mp3 format.

29/9/2001- Last Rights CD.
A two track CD was successfully recorded on Monday 24th and was mixed down on Friday 28th at Lock-Up Studio's. Without guitarist Michael Maher, two songs were recorded: Open & Impressionable Minds (Battlestar Acoustica). All are happy with the final result, mixed and engineered by Wayne. The future of the CD is yet to be decided, but any further info will be posted A.S.A.P.

2/9/2001- Splurge recording date confirmed.
Last Rights were recently selected to appear on behalf of Splurge records, a project undertaken by Music Industry Skills students at Gordon TAFE. They will be recording at Lock-Up Studio's on September 26, as a part of a CD compilation involving a select few (4 to be exact!) of Geelong's unsigned artists. The other bands appearing are SMiRK, The Family & Disfrenzik. Keep a look out! More details will appear on completion of the project.
